Yes this is the solution to replace a hardware PBX with a 100% software written in c.
The solution can works with the existing network infrastructure of an organization. I am going to introduce a new term VOIP.
Does it mean, anything related to IP ??
Yes Voice over IP. We can use the Network platform to make call. But who will identify the peers and terminate the calls to the peers. What can we do, place a PBX. We are using existing infrastructure why we need bring a extra hardware in between.
Yes we are now going to replace a hardware PBX with a Asterisk server. The asterisk server is capable of handling all kind of routing and all functionalities of normal PBX which even include CDR, call data records.

Does it mean call routing inside a organization ?? Not only
Its handle the connectivity of the external PSTN line to the phone lines, modem, fax etc inside the organization.
So the organization need a extension ??
simple we can attain it since we have a PBX.
PBX hardware ??
Yeah its hardware, but why don't it be a software ?? Its just handle call routing and interfacing the organization communication with PSTN.
